SOAR
In 2001, Pastor Michael received a vision that the River Dream Centre would be providing hot meals to the homeless and displaced on the streets of Exeter. The mission statement of Soup On A Run – or SOAR as it is known – is “transforming lives through community action.” SOAR provides hot food and drink to anyone who may be displaced in some way from the normal means of support. SOAR aims to demonstrate the love of Christ in a practical way to every displaced person we meet. We believe that every person has inherent value and deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. We have served over 10,000 free meals since we began, and we share the gospel with those we meet. In the last 2 years we have seen over 50 people make a decision for Christ, as well as great testimonies of people being rehabilitated. We work alongside many other churches in the city centre.
If you fell on hard times, how would you like to be treated? Wouldn’t you want your brothers and sisters in Christ to come along side you with a hot meal, and a warm smile, and tell you that you are accepted? Jesus will one day ask some of us the very same question – “Where were you to love me when I needed you?
If you have a heart for the hurting and displaced in our city, and can give some time to our work, please get in touch.
